The Wörthersee (also: Wörther See) is the largest lake in Carinthia and at the same time one of the warmest alpine lakes due to its climatic location. At Lake Wörthersee a total of five yacht clubs are organized. In addition to the traditional UNION YACHT CLUB Wörthersee with its club in Dellach (see picture below), there are still clubs in Krumpendorf (Kärntner Yacht Club Klagenfurt), in Pörtschach (Carinthian Yacht Club Pörtschach), in Maria Loretto (Klagenfurter sailing club Loretto) and in Velden (Yacht Club Velden).
Wind statistics: In May/June/July winds of 3-4 knots are generally to be expected. In August/September/October the wind turns to the east and statistically has an average strength of 3 knots.
