Every year the sailing race of the “5 Jours du Léman” attracts a large number of sailors from Switzerland and abroad. The 25th edition will take place from July 22th to 29th 2017. For this special edition we expect to bring together around 40 boats or more and we expect to have crews from Italy, France, Germany and Austria.
The concept of the race is very simple: in 120 hours, Surprise monotype sailboats must complete the most laps of Lake Geneva with two crew members on board, without stopover or assistance. These three elements are the essence of this race and are clearly defined by the race instructions. With two marks located at both ends of the Lake and a third one close to Lausanne shore, the race spans the complete Lake Geneva.
The crews can count only on themselves and on the equipment on board at departure. During the race technical assistance, accosting of another boat or boarding of a third person are strictly prohibited. The sailors predict their navigation route, weather routing is forbidden. In case of damage the crews are entitled to technical stop but without disembarking. It is up to them to foresee the repairs with the available means on board. This unique character makes the 5 Jours du Léman the most demanding regatta in Switzerland.
